The wealth of a nation
It’s obvious that a flood has hit the Icelandic banks which will affect all the economy. This condition was by no means created in Iceland for it is hitting most of the world’s economies. Unfortunately the foundations of the Icelandic banks were not strong enough to hold. We can argue who is to blame, but blaming will not get us out of this pitfall. Sadly many homes and companies will have a hard time to make ends meet. But while we are caught in the eye of the storm we shouldn’t forget that the sun will eventually come out again. The Icelandic people have had to deal with life in a country with rough weather and nature and have had to deal with hard times before. At times like these it is important to nurture the hard working and optimistic spirit that has kept Icelanders alive through the ages. The sooner we can start rebuilding the sooner we will be back on track. Let’s not forget that we still have our most precious treasures, the wealth of well educated, hard working and honest everyday people.
