Svanhildur operated her own company and design workshop in Copenhagen between 2006 and 2008. She also has extensive experience in various service and consulting occupations as well as having worked in the Reykjavik fashion industry for a number of years.

Svanhildur obtained a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Iceland in 2005.

When she is not at work time passes quickly for Svanhildur who loves camping and exploring new terrains with her family. Svanhildur has been an active snowboarder for 15 years and has no plans to give up that hobby although she is being a lot more careful after she had her two children; Halla and Kári.
