The founders
Audur Capital was founded by two Icelandic business women, Halla Tomasdottir and Kristin Petursdottir. Halla was the Managing Director of the Iceland Chamber of Commerce and Kristin was Deputy CEO of Kaupthing Singer & Friedlander in London. Here is the story in their own words:
You might wonder why two women who are enjoying successful careers decide to leave their high profile positions to start a new financial service business from scratch? It’s actually quite simple. We are deeply interested in developing a business built on our own values and we saw an incredible “blue ocean” opportunity that was just too good to miss.
We were at or near the age of 40 when we individually reflected back on our corporate experiences and discovered separately that something was missing. This is actually a phenomenon we find that many successful women share with us when they are at or near mid life. After 20 years in international business and investment banking, we felt a strong urge to make the next 20 years count for more than just economic profit. We decided to create a company with a clear purpose, powerful mission and interesting philosophy and we are convinced that healthy profits will follow.
It took almost a full pregnancy term for us to develop the WHAT of Audur Capital, i.e. our service offering. We decided to focus on investment related services such as private equity, corporate finance and wealth management. It took another 6 months to decide HOW we are going to do it. We are convinced that the HOW is what makes us different from any other financial service provider you know.
We are incredibly blessed to have attracted a great team of people who share our vision and our values. The journey of creating Audur has been both challenging and rewarding. Now that we have given “birth” to her we feel proud and excited. We are happy to share her upbringing with you, so do not hesitate to write to us and tell us how you think Audur should grow.
